I hear you: why would I pay someone to do the things I’m already doing for free? And it’s true, you could keep doing it all yourself. Or you could keep having your volunteer take care of it. I think it’s always best to hire a specialist when you can, and here are a few reasons I feel that way.
1. You’re busy.
This goes without saying, but you (or your staff pastor or volunteer) very likely did not get into the ministry with the specific goal of running a Facebook page or sending emails. Sure, you’re willing to do whatever it takes to “go therefore…” but you’d rather be spending your time polishing up your sermons or visiting members or planning events. Simply having someone on deck to take care of the menial online day-to-day can be a huge time saver.
2. You need consistency.
Sometimes just the peace of mind knowing that the email will for sure be sent and the Instagram will for sure be updated is enough to change your workflow. If you’ve ever given someone a job and they didn’t follow through, you know what I’m talking about (let’s be real, ever pastor knows what I’m talking about). And the best part about outsourcing your online tasks is that you don’t ever have to have the awkward “hey sister Bethany, you haven’t updated the website since Christmas and, uh… well it’s June now so… Because you just have no idea how someone will respond. You don’t want to lose a dedicated volunteer to something like that.
3. You need someone who knows what they’re doing.
I’ve been in church my whole life. My dad is a pastor. I’ve done kid’s ministry, I’ve led worship, I’ve done youth, bulletins, powerpoints, sermon notes, mailers, event flyers, and just about everything else you can think of. I have no shortage of experience, and on top of that, I understand how incredibly vital it is to handle things with spiritual sensitivity. I started this business because I believe fulfilling the mission of the church is the most important thing we can do on this earth. By partnering with pastors and churches, I can support the ministry to be that much more effective in your church.
